Harvard University's annual Humanitarian Award has commended some of the biggest celebrity names in history, and this year is no exception.

"Rihanna has charitably built a state-of- the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados", said S. Allen Counter, the Harvard Foundation's director.

The announcement places Rihanna among some of the diamonds of philanthropy and activism, including Nobel Peace Prize Committee chairman Thorbjørn Jagland, tennis player and civil rights activist Arthur Ashe, and several Secretaries General of the United Nations.

With estimated earnings of $75 million, Rihanna was ranked fifth in Forbes magazine's 2016 list of highest-paid musicians.
