Netflix Picks Up Scorsese, De Niro Gangster Movie

Martin Scorsese's The Irishman has reportedly been in development since 2010 and would bring together this legendary director with equally legendary actors Robert de Niro and Al Pacino.

Oscar-winning screenwriter Steven Zaillian ("Schindler's List") adapted Charles Brandt's 2004 book, "I Heard You Paint Houses", which chronicled Sheeran's colorful life and was titled after the slang term for a contract killer.

The Irishman will see Scorsese reuniting with De Niro after working with him on several films throughout their respective careers, including Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. Now the streaming giant has swooped in and will release the film to its 94 million subscribers around the world. Shortly before his death in 2003, Sheeran confessed that he killed fellow Teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa, whose body has never been found. As news circulated around the web, we noticed many people were curious when the film would be on Netflix. The purchase makes it one of the biggest independent films the streaming service has bought, with Scorsese being one of the most prolific directors to enter an exclusive deal with Netflix.

Chilean fans' campaign to coax Alexis Sanchez into leaving Arsenal
The event's details reveal that for the people of Chile anywhere other than Real or Barcelona (or Arsenal , obviously) will do. The Chile worldwide is Arsenal's top scorer this season, having notched 20 times in 33 appearances across all competitions.

Expected to start shooting next year, The Irishman sees Scorsese back in his mafia comfort zone after the experiment that was Silence, the phrase "I heard you paint houses" being mob slang for contract killings (referencing the blood splattering the walls). On the one hand, this ensures that Scorsese will absolutely get to make the movie he wants to make and secures worldwide distribution that will make it available to a massive audience all at once. However, we sincerely hope a substantial theatrical roll-out is planned as seeing a new Scorsese film for the first time from our couch just wouldn't feel right.

Although there is no release date set quite yet, the report suggests that The Irishman could arrive in 2019.
