LeBron endorses Oakley for president after Knicks scuffle

Prior to Charles Oakley's arrest following a stunning confrontation with Madison Square Garden security Wednesday night, Phil Jackson reportedly (and unsuccessfully) tried to get a hold of Michael Jordan to see if he could calm Oak down.

A break in the action at Wednesday night's game between the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers set the stage for a chaotic scene.

"Whenever I go to the Garden now, security has been told to inform him immediately", Oakley said on Thursday.

On Thursday, as Oakley made media rounds defending himself, saying the incident was unprovoked, the Knicks released a scathing statement, calling Oakley's account "pure fiction".

However, the Knicks claim that Oakley "behaved in a highly inappropriate and completely abusive manner". He has been ejected and is now being arrested by the New York City Police Department.

Of course, Prince Goldfish-Dolan doesn't like being reminded that his father's teams were better than his in every way, so he systematically excludes former Knick greats from current team functions, and that includes players like Charles Oakley.

Rivers and Oakley were teammates for two seasons with the Knicks and still share a close friendship. As for National Basketball Association players, how is this tweet from Reggie Miller: "If you're a (free agent) to be, why would you play for an Owner who treats the past greats like this or a President who stabs star player in the back?" Oakley's relationship with the organization post-playing days has been frosty and well-publicized: he is never recognized or invited to events by the team, as many other former players are.

And while the world already knew the Cleveland Cavaliers star's stance on the Charles Oakley-James Dolan feud that has engulfed NY, it is likely James earned a few more backers in the Big Apple with his latest statement. - I couldn't believe it. "They said, 'You have to leave because someone ordered you to leave.' I'm like, 'I've been here four and a half minutes, I'm a Knicks fan, played here for 10 years, love the Knicks, love NY, I wish them all the luck and success on the basketball court, and I don't know why I'm not welcome in the Garden'". We're not getting much of it from Knicks management, but what else is new? "And he's not the kind of guy I would want to get on his bad side, I can tell you firsthand".

Frankly, if we could all be a little bit more like Charles Oakley, the world would be a better place. "That's my guy. So that was tough to watch from where I was standing".

Lebron James posted a photo of Oakley with the caption, "Mood!"
