The drastic measures blocked in post-election USA 2

The drastic measures blocked in post-election USA 2

The court filing described the Green Party-backed voters who filed the case "regular citizens of ordinary means" who can not afford the $1 million bond ordered by the court by Monday, the Associated Press reported.

Last Friday, a federal court in Wisconsin denied a request for a temporary restraining order on the ongoing recount.

Republican president-elect Donald Trump surprised many when he won Wisconsin by 1 percent, despite polls showing him lagging behind Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Some Hillary supporters will not accept the fact that Trump won.

Trump's margin of victory in Pennsylvania is shrinking as more counties finish counting overseas ballots and settle provisional ballot challenges.

Although Clinton's popular vote lead has increased beyond 2.5 million, it is unlikely that Clinton could come out victorious after recounts in the three states.

The nonpartisan vote counting website Decision Desk HQ that tabulated returns county-by-county reported that Trump's lead over Clinton in Pennsylvania had narrowed to 46,948 votes.

"Make no mistake - the Stein campaign will continue to fight for a statewide recount in Pennsylvania", attorney Jonathan Abady said in the statement late Saturday.

"On Monday, I will escalate #Recount2016 in PA and file to demand a statewide recount on constitutional grounds".

Their lawsuit argues that the recount threatens the due process rights of those who voted for Mr Trump and will likely contain errors as officials rush to meet a 13 December deadline. After the state's Board of State Canvassers deadlocked on the issue Friday, a hand recount in MI appears set to proceed next week.

Pennsylvania's top elections official, Secretary of State Pedro Cortes, a Democrat, says there's no evidence of any sort of cyberattacks or irregularities in the election.

Stein has also sought for the recount of votes in MI and Wisconsin. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Republican lawyers argued that the law in Pennsylvania does not allow a court-ordered recount.

Meanwhile, Green Party-backed efforts to force recounts and analyze election software in scattered precincts were continuing.

The Green Party is dropping its court case seeking a statewide recount of Pennsylvania's November 8 presidential election. The voters who are part of the lawsuit stated they also want a recount to determine whether any hacking of Pennsylvania's electronic voting machines took place. Stein came in fourth place in MI, earning 1.07 percent of the total vote.

Stein said she planned to announce "the next step" in the recount effort on Monday at a previously scheduled news conference at Trump Tower in New York City. Recounts would have to flip the result to Clinton in all three states to change the result.

In Pennsylvania, though, Stein's withdrawal brings an abrupt conclusion to a statewide efforts that began there less than one week ago.
