Matt Lauer Extends Deal Through 2018

Two more years of Matt!

In January he'll mark 20 years as co-anchor of Today, extending his run as the longest running network morning show host. The contract was inked a few months ago, according to the New York Post. "The new deal will take him well into 2018", a source told the New York Post.

News of Lauer's contract renewal comes a little over a month after Billy Bush exited Today after the release of a 2005 tape in which he is heard laughing and joking as Donald Trump makes lewd comments about women.

Currently, Oppenheim is working in the film industry and is the screenwriter of "Jackie", which stars Natalie Portman and is already getting some Oscar buzz. Lauer joined the Today team back in 1994 as a news anchor.

However, Lauer's deal may not be as rich as the one he signed in 2012, which was reportedly worth $25 million a year.

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation is a provider of information technology (IT), consulting and business process services. The current ratio for Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation (NASDAQ: CTSH ) shows a rate of 3.6 with its quick ratio of 3.6.

Lauer has extended his contract with NBC through 2018 for a reported $20 million a year.

In September, Lauer weathered criticism for how he moderated a live prime-time forum with Trump and Hillary Clinton.

The scandal surrounding Bush's ouster left Today with a bit of a black eye, but it also robbed the show of another potential heir apparent to eventually fill Lauer's hosting seat. But "Today" has been on a ratings roll recently, beating "GMA" as No. 1 with adults in the coveted 25-to-54-year-old demographic for 63 of the past 64 weeks.

"CBS This Morning" is in third place.
