Labour leadership contender says Britain should vote again on Brexit

Labour leadership contender Owen Smith says Britain is a divided country and has vowed to tackle poverty and inequality.

She is among the majority of Labour MPs who believe that Jeremy Corbyn is not capable of leading the party to general election success, and in today's article calls on his opponents to choose a single unity candidate.

He indicated he would also want to raise capital gains tax from 20%.

"We have now been told that anyone who recently joined is not eligible to vote which I think is unfair".

Asked if he would not trigger article 50, beginning the process of the United Kingdom leaving the EU, Smith replied: "That would be very tempting for the Labour party because we are a party that believes in being at the heart of Europe, but I don't think it's a binary choice".

"We are not going anywhere and in the end eventually this problem will be sorted out". I don't want to be involved in this studio before (then).

In the race for leadership, he will be running against Labour MPs Owen Smith and Angela Eagle.

By positioning themselves in that way, they think they could potentially be acceptable to both wings of the party.

She said: "I supported Jeremy Corbyn in the no-confidence motion, but now there is a selection process and I am waiting to see what the other candidates will bring to the table".

"I utterly condemn any violence or threats, which undermine the democracy within our party and have no place in our politics", he added. "I think we need to make sure people are satisfied", he added.

So let's take a breath and try to work out where we are.

Labelling current leader Jeremy Corbyn anti-austerity without an alternative, Mr Smith will pledge to invest the money into the UK's "failing infrastructure".

During a long meeting on Tuesday night, the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) decided in a secret ballot that Corbyn, who comes from the party's left, has the right to appear on a ballot and defend his leadership if challenged.

"I've wiped the floor with George Osborne at Prime Ministers Questions and I'm an experienced Government minister, as well as in opposition".

"What's been happening isn't the kinder, gentler politics".

"We resent the lack of respect shown to the leader".

The new Prime Minister was called on by the SNP's Westminster leader to pause the vote until MPs know the full cost of the UK's nuclear deterrent.

The Independent wrote "Labour fears party will split after Corbyn ruling".

That excludes more than 100,000 who have joined since last month's European Union referendum, including many Corbyn supporters.

However, they have a two-day window from July 18 to apply for a vote as a registered supporter, but the cost has risen from £3 previously to £25.
