New Apple Swift app will teach iPad users to code

Apple has announced Swift Playgrounds, its new iPad app that the company says will make it easier and fun for anyone who wants to learn to code.

Apple announced its Swift Playgrounds app at WWDC yesterday, which will teach kids to code in Swift. "We hope that this gift to kids and schools around the world will help make coding part of a school day". Swift looks easy to understand for a novice programmer while Swift Playgrounds is as simple as playing a game, which is a big change from traditional coding lessons.

Swift Playground comes at an opportune time, where in the United Kingdom coding has been made a compulsory subject in the English schools curriculum, and there is the need to find a means to plug a digital skills gap that stands to threaten the UK's technology industry.

"Imagine the possibilities for kids; they could learn the spirit of enterprise through coding, in developing apps and programming robots". The maker of iPhones, iPads, and Macs has plans to release more lessons for Swift Playgrounds.

Tong began learning coding when he went to university and he said that by helping young generation approach coding in an early age will stimulate kids and generate new ideas. "It lets them have a sense of logic", he said. It's also setting the bar higher for learn-to-code apps.

Chris Evans wants Brie Larson to play Captain Marvel
She has Captain America's vote, and now Marvel Studios just needs to make it happen. "I think she is phenomenal, and I really hope that [casting] happens".

Swift Playgrounds will be available as public beta next month.

The final version of Swift Playgrounds will be available in the App Store for free in the fall; note, iOS 10 will be required to use it.

In addition, by introducing children to the OS X and iOS operating systems, this may snag Apple a wider consumer base as they get older and turn towards Apple products rather than rival devices offered by the likes of Google, Samsung and Microsoft.

Aside from all the software updates coming to your Watch, Phone, Tablet, Computer and Apple TV box - there's something else which for Apple as a company was just as important today at WWDC - Learning Coding.

The interactive, intuitive interface has support for Apple's Multi-Touch iPad interface.
