Trump accused of stiffing over 200 Taj Mahal Casino subcontractors

Trump accused of stiffing over 200 Taj Mahal Casino subcontractors

United States of America argues that this pattern characterizes a common practice of Trump's businesses: first failing to pay contractors or employees for their services, taking the dispute to court and then using the Trump empire's significant financial resources to "overpower and outlast much smaller opponents".

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee is still enmeshed in the controversy over lawsuits charging fraud from students of the now defunct Trump University, as well as Trump's racially charged comments that the federal judge overseeing one of those cases lacks objectivity because of his Mexican heritage. Many of those lawsuits include everyday Americans who have stated that Trump and his companies are not paying them for their work. In that case, the manager of the contractor behind the renovation testified that the painter was not paid because Trump had "already paid enough".

Yet the USA Today analysis found that the billionaire's businesses have been involved in more than 3,500 lawsuits over the past 30 years involving disputes over payments. "That began the demise of the Edward J. Friel Company... which has been around since my grandfather", he said. According to The Miami Herald, The Paint Spot claimed Trump has owed them the money since 2014.

The Wall Street Journal documented similar tales of woe of contractors and workers who did business with Trump's businesses. The settlements averaged about $800 for each worker and as high as $3,000 for one, according to court records.

Also last month, a Florida judge ordered that the resort be foreclosed on and sold to pay a painter more than $30,000 for his work as part of a Doral renovation more than two years ago.

'Nashville' Lives On: CMT Picks Up Show For Season 5 After Cancellation
Lionsgate, which produces Nashville along with ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment, had been aggressively searching for a new home. The network couldn't be a better fit for the show, which focuses on making it and breaking it in Nashville's country music scene.

The court records showed not only a pattern of not paying, but also of Trump companies tying up small businesses and individuals in lengthy legal dealings until they either settle, give up or sometimes go out of business altogether. The Trump family's excuse is that the contracts were not fulfilled due to shoddy work or substandard practices. "Trucks took the fabric away". And, ironically, several law firms that once represented him in these suits and others.

Trump clearly treats his workers terribly, which makes it all the more absurd that he is praised for his strong economic message and promises to bring back American jobs.

"If they do a bad job, they have to suffer", Trump told The New York Times earlier this year. Trump has comically claimed that, "No matter who you are, we're going to protect your job, because let me tell you, our jobs are being stripped from our country like we're babies". It's hard to say whether this news will be overshadowed by the institutional Democratic support Hillary Clinton has picked up over the last day or so, but by some measures, these Trump revelations are absolutely devastating.

"It would be irresponsible if my father paid contractors who did lousy work", she said. Bozena Dziewit, the company's director of hospitality sales, said the firm was always paid on time and that "We always have a very good experience".
