Snapchat finally allows 100% original filters, but there's more than one catch

Wanting to become a more official part of your special events, Snapchat has launched on-demand geofilters that people will be paying for.

On Monday, Snapchat announced what it's calling on-demand geofilters, which are a way for anyone to create a geofilter and pay Snapchat to show it for a specific location and period of time - think birthdays, office parties, weddings, etc.

Snapchat has had the option for people to submit custom geofilters for a while, but until now they've been restricted to public places and neighbourhoods.

Users now have the control to create their own designs from scratch, as well as determine exactly where and for how long their custom tags will be active.

This could open up a broader revenue model for Snapchat, which now makes money from brand-designed geofilters and in-app purchases from users who want to replay a snap.

Pakistan, India ties seem to be inching forward
He stated, "India and Pak can vacate Siachen on mutual understanding, we can revise the proposal". On Hafiz Saeed, another Mumbai mastermind, Aziz said there was no evidence against him.

The minimum requirements for these geofilters are 5,000 square feet and for them to exist for no less than 60 minutes. So your room can't have its own geofilter, but your dorm can. For example, a Snapchatter can have a Graduation Party geofilter that covers the entire city for no less than a week, but it will cost a fortune.

Users will have to design their filter and send it via the new online portal of Snapchat. Filters can be accessible for between one hour and thirty days.

"On-Demand Geofilters let you create and publish a Geofilter for your party, wedding, business, or any other place or event".

It's not the first time Snapchat has offered sponsored geofilters, but this time, on-demand filters are aimed at smaller events and geographical areas.

Snapchat said its users have submitted almost half a million Community geofilters to date.
