UMass: "Shelter in place order has been lifted. Please resume normal activities"

UMass:

The university said there have been no reports of injuries or shots fired. It describes two suspects: white males, with one wearing a dark shirt and a gold chain and the other wearing a grey sweatshirt.

Police said the victim, who is a UMass student, suffered minor lacerations to the head. University spokesmen could not be reached for immediate comment.

They are not believed to be college students but police say they are college age. Police are interviewing witnesses", the university posted just after 6:30 p.m., posting at 6:40 p.m., "Continue to shelter in place.

Police were looking for a "hostile armed person" on the campus of UMass Amherst Thursday evening.

A shelter-in-place was ordered for the entire campus.

Surveillance video from the school shows the two suspects being provided access to Pierpont Hall, a freshman residence hall on campus which is under a 24-hour swipe card system.

One student who lives at Pierpont Hall said he believes he saw the suspects running away.
